Under normal conditions, the VPAP™ bilevel device triggers (initiates IPAP) and cycles (terminates IPAP and changes to EPAP) as it senses the change in patient flow. Patients with very unique conditions may further benefit from adjustable trigger/cycle sensitivity settings.

The trigger and cycle sensitivities feature allows customization at the beginning and end of each breath, further improving patient–device synchronization. Trigger sensitivity determines how the breath transitions from expiration to inspiration. Adjusting the trigger sensitivity makes it easier or harder for the patient to initiate the breath.
Cycle sensitivities determine how the breath transitions from inspiration to expiration. Adjusting cycle sensitivity affects the length of inspiration. Five adjustable sensitivities offer the flexibility to customize therapy and fine-tune synchronization, accommodating a wide range of patient types.
